want to bring in joe johns. he's also working his sources. what are you hearing, joe? >> well, we've got the fbi, the alcohol, tobacco, firearms bureau and others converging on the scene and we're told there are about five different local agencies surrounding the woods there looking for that one shooter who apparently has not been identified. as ed reported, this sounds very different, wolf, from the types of situations we've seen aurora, colorado, newtown, connecticut, and other places where one individual went in indiscriminately and started shooting. this appears to be an altercation between two people in a school setting which makes it sound like more like the things we've seen at public schools and major metropolitan areas and some other universities where police have to start asking questions, was it drug-related, was it gang-related, was this a score settling of any type? these are the types of questions. and congresswoman sheila jackson lee of texas who represents this area, harris county, texas, was asked that question and sort of restated it on air a while ago but we dou

, kentucky, killed 165 people. among 2,400 waiting for entertainer john davidson to perform, which believed to be an electrical fire went undetected at first. there were no fire detectors or sprinklers. at the time, they weren't required. the deadliest nightclub blaze happened in 1942 at the coconut grove club in boston. 492 people were killed. the cause of the blaze, to this day, remains unknown. among the questions investigators will be asking, how badly the club may have been overcrowded and why. were there smoke detectors and a sprinkler system? as fire experts tell us, there is very little time to escape. >> well, what happens is the fire builds very rap applied like that builds up heap heath and smoke at the ceiling level and starts to descend very rapidly and i believe in some of those fires, about a minute and a half into the fire, it was at head level, where you can't breathe that smoke or gas without suffocating. >> reporter: according to eyewitnesses and investigators, suffocation appears to be the cause of death for so many in that brazil fire. miguel? >> susan, just terrible. t

for that, so i completely agree with john. when it comes to telling the republican party what they ought to believe in, that's not something that members of the rnc can do, that's something that the candidates have to do to say, here's the values we want to articulate and the policies we stand for and it doesn't just consist of we're against what president obama says. >> shortening the primary calendar, how would that help? how would that work? >> they just came off a primary calendar which had a primary and it took romney a long time to become the actual nominee, to get some of the other guys off the stage. i think what they'd like to be able to do is consolidate around the candidate very quickly in the future so that they can focus their resources on that general election. of course, it always looks that way when you have the incumbent president on the other, and they may change the calendar some. we've been watching them right now in states across the country and look for opportunities to change the way electoral map is done and the way electoral votes are portioned and there are a lo

director general david petraeus, john allen, whose name surfaced in this investigation has now been cleared of wrongdoing by the pentagon. this, as jill kelly, the woman who triggered the investigation in the first place, speaks out for the first time. nbc's kerry sanders is outside kelly's home in tampa, florida, this morning. kerry, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, savannah. it's been three months since news broke of the secret love affair between general david petraeus and his biographer, paula broadwell. it all came to light after jill kelly, who lives in the house over there, contacted the fbi about what she called threatening e-mails. throughout all of this, jill kelly has remained silent, until now. socialite jill kelly was thrown into the media spotlight last october as the story of general david petraeus and his affair with biographer paula broadwell unfolded. kelly was described in the media as the other, other woman. now she's telling her side of the story in an interview with a reporter for the daily beast, describing the ordeal as a living nightmare. >> jill kelly seeme
